“I would teach children Music, Physics and Philosophy; but most importantly Music, for the patterns in Music and all the arts are the keys to learning.” – Plato
Whenever I see someone playing a musical instrument or someone singing with much passion, it would always make me wish that I knew how to sing or play an instrument too. I really have high regard and deep respect for all musicians and singers out there. I see them as great individuals with oozing levels of talent. I really admire them. I always ask myself: “Why have I not learned to play musical instruments?” “Why am I not good at singing?” I know it’s not too late but I wish I had learned them when I was still a kid and who knows maybe now, I am already a famous singer or musician. It is so wonderful to imagine, because for me, to live in music is to experience a different kind of world where the reason and the emotion would not just collide but would also intertwine.
“Musicians want to be the loud voice for so many quiet hearts.” – Billy Joel
Also, I can say that those music inclined people are really different from the rest of us who are not. There is really something in them, maybe in their so-called “aura”, that when we see them performing or even as in their ordinary day to day life, we can say that they possess an extraordinary character that really touches people’s hearts. For me, they are a “Hero” in that way.
“I decided to come back and teach goodness in this business. To teach love, because music is the universal language. We are God’s bouquet, and through music we become one.”- Little Richard
I remember Arthur Schopenhauer once said , “Music is the food of the soul.” Yes, definitely it is. Why? Because music enables us to express what we feel inside. Especially those feelings and emotions that are really hard to tell to the people we love or to some stranger. It may not be verbally said but the very fact that we have been relieved from what we carry inside or have expressed some happiness within, it is no doubt that music can really dive deep in our soul and comfort it.
Music can really touch a heart even if how hard that heart is. You can prove it yourself. When we hear a very soft lullaby, we tend to suddenly feel sleepy. When we hear very loud irritating music, we become easily annoyed by that person playing that music. When we hear calm and relaxing music, we feel that we are relieved from the stress and anxieties that we have. It cannot be denied that through music, people’s hearts can be united as one. For me, when we use music in a good way, it can be a catalyst of spreading love in this world.
Now we have discovered reasons why we should love and embrace music in our lives. In my own experience, music is my best friend. “When I am sad, it comforts me and when I am happy, it celebrates with me.”
“Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potential of every child is unlimited.” – Sinichi Suzuki
The very reason why I write this blog is to inspire people, especially the younger generations to put music in their lives. I am encouraging parents to let their children befriend with music. Let them be curious about the music being played; let them be curious on where that music coming from; let them be curious on how that music is produce; let them be curious on how to play the source of that music; let them sing with their hearts in chorus with the music and let them see the beauty of the world and the beauty of people through music.
“The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.” – Gerald R. Ford
Why am I focusing on the younger generations – the children of today? Because they are still meek, soft and innocent. They’re hearts are still pure and their minds are still teachable. They still can unlock unlimited possibilities in life.
As we all know they are our future. We need to teach them the things that will enable them to show love despite how the world looks; to enable them to smile despite the pain they suffer and to enable them to be the happiest they can be.
Now, what the world needs most is love. Love can be expressed through music. Music can touch and unite hearts. It can brighten up a sorrowful heart. It can even fill an empty soul. It adds colors to our life. Music is a very helpful tool for children to become good citizens of this world. Music can teach everything about life and music can inspire even to the tiniest creature in this world.
“Music can change the world because it can change people.”- Bono
Change is constant and people change for a reason. Given this truth, music can be one of the reasons – it could be one of the “Secret Ingredients” why people change from being bad to good, from a coward to a brave one, from a negative to a positive and from a sorrowful person to being the happiest one.
Now the question is: “ What is the secret ingredient of her smile?”
